A team of medical malpractice lawyers at Clifford Law Offices obtained a record $101 million verdict on behalf of then five-year-old Gerald Sallis.  Gerald was brain damaged during birth at West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park.

Evidence Video provided a Progressive Day in the Life production that was filmed six times over two years showing the extent of his injuries. His external fetal monitoring strips were ignored for six hours. Experts on behalf of the plaintiff testified that he would have been born a normal baby if hospital nurses and other medical personnel would have alerted doctors to the abnormalities and performed an emergency C-section. Gerald is expected to live a normal life span. He cannot speak or take care of himself in any way. The lawsuit was brought on behalf of the child by his mother, Tequila Sallis.

Sallis’ attorney Sarah King says the visuals provided by Evidence Video were particularly impactful.  “The jury needed to see Gerald at home, at school, at therapy and at Misercordia,” said King. “The videos and photos taken by Gera-Lind and her team allowed them to understand how much help Gerald and his mom need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It was hard to put quantity of Gerald’s needs into words. But the videos and photos allowed the jury to see the magnitude of this child’s loss.”

The case was under the representation of Attorneys Keith A. Hebeisen, Bradley M. Cosgrove, Sarah F. King and Charles R. Haskins Clifford Law Offices.
