A man whose left leg was amputated below the knee after a Northwest Indiana motorcycle crash has settled his lawsuit for $5.25 million.
The plaintiff was riding after 9 p.m. on Indiana State Road 49 near Chesterton, Ind. when the defendant, driving northbound in a Mercedes-Benz with his wife, attempted a left turn across the southbound lanes.
Instead of completing the turn, he hit the motorcycle.
The plaintiff required his left leg amputated below the knee and also sustained a fractured left femur. The full $5.2 million dollar value of the policy was accepted.
