Wrongful Death Documentaries are more elaborate videos that are powerful out-of-court settlement tools. Sometimes referred to as Settlement Brochures, these videos often use interviews of coworkers, family, and friends, as well as photographs and home videos, to describe and show wrongful death plaintiffs in their healthy, pre-injured state. 1. Arrangements are made with family members to receive photographs and videos of the plaintiff. These then must be reviewed, selected, time logged, and transferred to computer.
2. Pre-interviews are conducted with key people in the plaintiff's life. A representative group is selected and on-camera interviews are conducted by producers with many years of journalism experience.
3. Studio editing weaves the photographs, 8- and 16-mm film, home video, interviews, background shots, and narration together to tell the story of the plaintiff.
